Welcome to the Department of Textile Engineering, Kombolcha Institute of Technology, Wollo University. The Department of Textile Engineering , Kombolcha Institute of Technology, Wollo University is located around 400 kilometers from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and is one of the recently founded universities in Ethiopia.  Kombolcha is an industrial sector with a sizable number of large scale and many small scale industries operating in its vicinity. The Institute is established with a vision to impart quality education to the Ethiopian community to cater to their up-liftment and to accelerate the industrial development & economic growth of the country.

The Department of Textile Engineering aims at providing quality technical education to the community. The textile sector of Ethiopia has a tremendous potential for growth and expansion, with promises to become a major employment provider to the community. But there is also a long felt dearth of skilled manpower to fulfill the requirement of the rapidly expanding industry. The establishment of the Textile Department at KIOT, Wollo University, is thus an initiative to fill this gap by bringing out qualified engineers to take the national economy ahead. The curriculum for the program incorporates courses relevant to industrial processes, production sequences, machinery, quality & managerial aspects, entrepreneurial skills etc. as requisite of the modern textile industry. The foundation of the department is considered significant to contribute to the rapid progress of the textile sector of Ethiopia.
